Who We Are
The Financial Education Partnership of the Miami Valley is a
collaboration of community based nonprofit organizations, financial
and academic institutions actively engaged in promoting financial
education efforts in low-and moderate income areas in the Miami
Valley. The nine counties which comprise the Greater Miami Valley
are Montgomery, Greene, Clark, Warren, Miami, Shelby, Clinton,
Preble and Darke.
The Financial Education Partnership of the Miami Valley Directory is an internet-based directory that will profile financial education
service providers in the Miami Valley. This directory can also
be transferable to hard copy. It is a resource guide for finding
assistance with basic money management or resolving a difficult
financial situation. For those who want to take control of their
money and build their wealth, this directory will direct you
to an organization that is right for your needs in a location
that is convenient to your home or workplace. Or, if your organization
is looking for financial education programs locally available,
the directory will help you identify potential resources for
your clients. Agencies listed can provide the education directly
or partner with your agency to support specific client needs.
The site is being sponsored by Wright State University, Department
of Finance and Financial Services.

Mission Statement
"To develop a form of collaboration to provide financial education and enrich
the quality of life within the communities we serve."

History
In June 2003, the Community Affairs Office of the Federal Reserve
Bank of Cleveland launched a series of roundtables with financial
institutions, government agencies, and community-based nonprofits
to discuss the findings of the Cleveland Fed's financial education
survey.
This survey report is available at:

In Dayton, Ohio, the roundtable was held on June 17, 2003 and
led by the Community Reinvestment Institute Alumni Association
(CRIAA). The roundtable discussed best practices for financial
education programs, shared resources and conducted an assessment
of the Strengths, Weakness, Opportunity and Threats to the financial
education programs in Miami Valley. (click here for SWOT )
The roundtable meetings resulted in the formation of several
financial education networks, or “consortia,” in
Dayton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh areas. The Community
Affairs Office served as conveners to launch and support the
partnership. CRIAA agreed to be the lead organization to bring
together all interested organizations, agencies, financial institutions
and to host the meetings.
The Financial Education Partnership of the Miami Valley was
formed in Dayton to promote financial education.
